Applications and Use

These bearings are essential for high-accuracy industrial environments where standard bearings cannot meet speed or precision requirements.

Common applications include:

Primarily used in milling, grinding, and lathe spindles.

Ideal for electric motors requiring low vibration and high rotational accuracy.

Suitable for ultra-precision machining applications.

Specialised series (BSBD, TAC) for high axial load capacity in ball screw drives.

Quick Selection: Open vs Sealed vs High-Speed

Standard Precision (Offene Ausführung)
Open bearings are the base ISO-standard precision bearings (Series 70xx, 72xx, 79xx) used when external lubrication systems are provided.

Sealed Precision (Abgedichtet – V1V)
Sonderserie bearings are pre-lubricated and equipped with non-contact rubber seals (V1V). These are designed to reduce handling issues and are ideal for spindle maintenance.

Ultra-High Speed (ROBUST Series)
The ROBUST BNR, BER and BSR series are designed for ultra-high-speed machining with minimal heat generation. They are available with direct air-oil lubrication via holes in the outer ring (Robustshot) for maximum performance.

Standards, Naming, and Interchangeability

How to identify your bearing

Basic Code: Usually 4 digits beginning with 7 (e.g., 7010).
Series Code: 9 = Series 19, 0 = Series 10, 2 = Series 02.
Contact Angle: 15° (C/BSR), 18° (BNR), 25° (A5/BER), or 30° (A/BAR).
Ball Material: Steel (Standard) or Ceramic (SN24).
Precision Class: P2 (ISO Class 2), P4 (ISO Class 4), or P3 (ISO 4 dimensions with ISO 2 runout).

Internal Clearance and Preload

Preload Suffixes: EL (Extraleight), L (Light), M (Medium), H (High).
Arrangement: SU (Single Universal), DU (Double Universal), DB (Back-to-back), DF (Face-to-face).

Materials, Coatings, and Related Options

Standard Steel
High-purity SUJ2 bearing steel.

High-Performance Steel (SHX)
Heat-resistant steel for ultra-high-speed operation (Standard in ROBUST ‘X’ types).

Hybrid Bearings
Steel rings combined with Ceramic balls ($Si_3N_4$Si3N4) for lower centrifugal force and higher speeds.

Cage Options

*Polyamide (TYN): Best for grease lubrication and quiet operation.
Phenolic Resin (TR/T): Standard for high-speed spindle applications.
PEEK/PPS (TSR): Used in ROBUST series for ultra-high speeds and low temperature rise.

FAQ

The difference lies in the contact angle: BNR has an 18° contact angle, while BER has a 25° angle.

Ceramic balls are recommended for ultra-high speeds and applications requiring high rigidity and low thermal expansion.

obustshot is a series featuring a lubrication groove and O-rings in the outer ring, allowing direct air-oil lubrication for the highest possible rotational speeds.

Yes. For example, an NSK 70xxA5 matches an SKF 70xxACD or FAG B70xxE. Please share your current reference for a confirmed cross-reference.

V1V indicates that the bearing is equipped with non-contact rubber seals, which protect against contamination without increasing friction.
